This is about the soundtrack of my life.
I have loved music for so long and in so many different ways that when I hear certain songs they will instantly take me somewhere and remind me of a person, a place, a time, or an event in my life. It is said that music can provide an implicit memory, which is a form of classical conditioning. For me, this is 100% true.
Because I have always been connected in heart and soul to the music around me, it will always represent the pieces of my life that are recollected when the music reappears. This happens so often these days with the amazing streaming channels, radio stations, creative television shows, and films, all of whom understand that these musical connections link us to emotions sitting dormant in our implicit memory and then suddenly rattled when we hear the song again.
Music Triggers are just that, songs or albums that trigger memories and spur me to write about that period in my life. Each newsletter is a mini-biography of sorts. Each will bring me a different type of joy or response. Each will deepen my love for the effect music has and always will have on my life.
My hope is that you find your own memories from the songs I write about here, but even more so, I hope this inspires you to find and acknowledge your own music triggers. Write them down! Share them here if you are so inclined. Just remember that music is meant to heal us and can hold the potential to provide peace, joy, and meditation.
Please provide your feedback. Thank you for being a part of my “Music Triggers.”
